APARTMENT FOR BJÖRK
/ 02 / 2021
Mighty stairs growing from the ground lead us to the light. At the same time, we are surrounded by the sound of water from left and right.
The apartment thus conjures up a theatrical atmosphere and a feeling of freedom, with the help of a very open floor plan.
When we enter through the entrance door, on the left we enter the guest dressing room, at the end of which we find a door leading to the space intended for Björk (space for storing her personal belongings - suitcases, ...). The toilets with the entrance hall are located to the right of the front door. As we continue our way into the central space of the apartment, we see the kitchen on the right, and the dining area on the left of the mighty atrium. There are water curtains along the stairs, which, when switched off, open the way to the corridor, which takes us to the sleeping area intended for Björk. If we enter through the corridor on the left side of the staircase, we come to a seating area, which is intended for the owner of the apartment. On our right we see her wardrobe. As we continue our way to the right, there is a bedroom, and in the corridor there is a bathroom, with a free-standing bathtub and separate toilets. The path continues down the opposite hallway, to the right of the staircase, and takes us back to the central space of the apartment. Climbing the mighty stairs takes us to the living room, where there are double-sided armchairs for watching movies on the screen from one side or a view of the city from the other.
The walls and floor in the apartment are made of concrete, as are the dining table and kitchen counter. Around the dining table we find eight Louis Ghost chairs, designed by Philippe Starck. Another well-known design piece found in the apartment is the Togo modular sofa, designed in 1973 by Michel Ducaroy.
